  • Mission statement

Torfaen Citizens Advice Bureau works to help people take more control of their lives by providing the advice people need for the problems they face. We help people get fair treatment and help them resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent, confidential and impartial advice and information to everyone on their rights and responsibilities and by influencing policy makers to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives.

We provide information and advice on a range of subjects including social security benefits, consumer rights, taxation, debt and credit, housing, homelessness and eviction, employment rights, family and other relationships, immigration and education, and specialist advice on debt, housing and eviction and welfare rights including representation at County Court or Tribunals. We work in partnership with other agencies to ensure people access the most appropriate service to meet their needs.

As part of our commitment to be recognised as an agent of social change, we aim to improve community development and empowerment, and increase access to education skills and training by attracting, recruiting and supporting a range of volunteers in order to provide a service delivered by and reflective of local people and to promote community action.
