Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

ChamberStudio aims to give highly talented UK-based chamber music groups the support and development they need post-college to forge successful careers. We do this by providing top class music training, by internationally renowned musicians, at free or heavily subsidised rates. Most of our tuition is at Kings Place in central London and is non residential, minimising the extra costs (accommodation, travel) and lost opportunities (concerts, teaching) that make other such training more expensive and less convenient for musicians with busy schedules.

    Our main projects are:

    - a Mentorship scheme for up to 3 of the most promising groups, with coaching and support for an academic year, free of charge
    - Sunday Masterclasses at Kings Place, which run weekly from Oct to May, at subsidised rates, free for the public to attend
    - occasional Public Masterclasses in Hall One or Hall Two at Kings Place, given by renowned international musicians (e. G. Steven Isserlis, Andras Schiff)
    - Study Days at UK music colleges run by ChamberStudio professors

Our Artistic Director Richard Ireland comes from a family of eminent chamber musicians and is a highly regarded violinist, teacher and chamber music coach. He is steeped in the traditions of fine chamber playing and acutely aware of the challenges facing young musicians. Due to his strong connections we are able to attract many internationally renowned musicians to teach at ChamberStudio (www. Chamberstudio. Org/category/probiogs/).
