  • Mission statement

To improve the lives of adults and children who suffer from kidney disease. Supporting work throughout Yorkshire that produces nationally and internationally acclaimed results, the research we support helps find answers to deliver the best treatments and therapies to improve patients' lives. Relying entirely on donations, voluntary support and legacies to achieve our objectives, The Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund is run largely by volunteers, mostly by people who have been affected by kidney disease at some time in their lives who give their time and provide facilities to support the Fund to try and improve things. Without a transplant the outlook for kidney patients is poor -it has a worse outlook than a diagnosis of breast cancer, bowel cancer, prostate cancer or being diagnosed HIV Positive. The answer is to try to make this better with research. Our research is conducted on kidney disease, on dialysis, on transplantation and we are very effective in producing internationally renowned results largely due to the extremely large amount of work that is done voluntarily which means that 95% of donations can be used in research rather than just promoting the charity or other overheads.

  • Aims

The Yorkshire Kidney Research Fund aims to:

    • To improve the lives of adults and children who suffer from kidney disease by supporting research into the problems associated with all aspects of kidney disease, dialysis and transplantation
    • To continue to fund groundbreaking work, helping people of all ages, through donations, voluntary support, grants and legacies and to find the answers to deliver the best treatments and therapies.
    • To ensure that at least 95% of donations are used in research and benefit of kidney patients rather than promoting the Charity or other overheads
