Impact Family Services
Impact Family Services is a registered Charity based in Sunderland and offers a range of services across Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham with an aim of building more positive futures for families experiencing the transitional period after separation and/or divorce.
Family Mediation Service: Provides assistance through mediation for couples and their families, whose personal relationships are breaking down or has already broken down. The mediation service promote the settlement of disputes or potential disputes between such couples with regard to any matters associated with the break up of the relationship and more particularly, without prejudice to the disputes relating to contact to and residence of children and other matters affecting the welfare of the child and disputes relating to financial matters.
Child Contact Centres: Promote and encourage contact between children and their families through the provision of facilities known as ‘Contact Centres’ in the North East of England, specifically within Sunderland, South Tyneside and Durham. The venues provide fully equipped and staffed facilities that assist in establishing and rebuilding positive relationships for children with an absent parent or loved one with whom they no longer live with.
Family Support Service: In conjunction with the Contact Centre this part of the project provides individual and group work for Mothers, Fathers or any other family member who need support around relationship and child contact issues.
Anti Bullying Service: Works in schools based in the City of Sunderland, raising awareness of bullying and racism. Offers one to one work with children and young people who are experiencing bullying. The service has pioneered new ways of working and training introducing new concepts into the issues of bullying and how to deal with it, such as systemic family therapy dealing with whole family issues, peer mediation that equips young people with foundation skills for life and conflict resolution, and direct consultation with children themselves on how they would like bullying dealt with.
