We provide a wide range of Free bereavement support services for Birmingham residents provided by highly trained volunteers. We offer telephone information and support, one to one and group support.

  • Mission statement

    Cruse Bereavement Care, Birmingham Area provides somewhere to turn when someone dies. For most of us, bereavement will be the most distressing experience we will ever face. Grief is what we feel when somebody we are close to dies. Everyone experiences grief differently and there is no 'normal' or 'right' way to grieve. Our role is to provide a range of support services, when people are at their most vulnerable.
    Our service objectives 2013-2014:
     To continue to deliver quality bereavement support to the people of Birmingham
     To raise awareness of bereavement issues throughout the community
     To improve access to our service through outreach work
     To offer specialist group support to those bereaved by traumatic death
     To continue to recruit and train volunteers in order to reduce waiting lists
     To obtain new sources of funding
     To establish good working relationships with the new funding bodies
     To raise our profile in the community
    Moving Forward Our Vision
    • To reduce waiting list
    • We will run two ABC training courses in the year
    • We will increase number of supervisors

    • To increase the number of volunteers to reflect the diverse nature of the Birmingham community
    • We will seek to provide a community based bereavement support service for South Asian clients to be delivered by South Asian volunteers

    • To increase the number of specialist support groups
    We aim to offer an addaptable service that refelcts the diverse nature of the |Birmingham Community.

    • Provide a community based bereavement service for South Asian clients delivered by trained South Asian volunteers.
    • To meet the increasing demand for our service , we need to double the number of volunteers we currently have providing one to one support.
