Active Listening Ltd.

Active Listening offers a listening and signposting service to vulnerable adults, providing support during times of great difficulty and helping them move towards change and growth.

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

Active Listeners are trained to listen to vulnerable adults, working in partnership with PSNI and churches. Vulnerable people may be struggling with issues including domestic violence, addictions, suicide, self-harm, bereavement, poverty, abuse or anti-social behaviour. Listeners go out to visit them in the community, at no cost, for as long as necessary. The service is totally confidential and available to all.

We network and signpost to other community focused organisations.

Our aim is to connect local people in local communities who have become isolated and need support.

Our hope is to see the lives of people we meet transformed.

Our vision is to make a positive impact on local communities by having an Active Listening Team attached to every Police Station in Northern Ireland. This model is transferable to other countries.

How the Vulnerable People will benefit from this: Individuals who have suffered in some manner are supported through trained listeners and befriended. Many come from disadvantaged backgrounds or have been discriminated against. People with suicidal tendencies have been deterred from carrying this out. We can raise people’s self-esteem and motivate them to improve their circumstances and quality of life. This enables them to reintegrate into society and make a positive impact in their communities. We can help many more people with your assistance.
