CheckIn Works helps young people with learning disabilities and mental health issues to engage in work placements and overcome barriers to work, learning new skills through its own social enterprises.
CheckIn Works implements innovative approaches in supporting employment opportunities for disadvantaged individuals, mainly young people aged sixteen years and over and living in the Perth and Kinross area, who experience significant challenges in making the transition into, and sustaining, purposeful employment activity.
It achieves this by promoting a volunteer Employment Buddy Scheme, thereby ensuring its long term development and achievement - and using the social enterprise venues of its own community interest company, Giraffe, Trading, which is the employability social enterprise established by the Group. It aims to continue to expand Giraffe Trading for this purpose and to offer sustainable work options in the future.
It aims to develop effective partnership and good practice working with relevant agencies across all sectors where this can promote sustainable employment-related activity as well as sourcing sustainable paid employment opportunities, work experience, volunteering and other employability opportunities for disadvantaged adults.
It aims to develop constructive relationships with employers in order to support the employment of disadvantaged young people and adults and offer pre-employment preparation and training.
CheckIn Works aims to:
- Offer inclusive, relevant work experience to around 50 young people a year with learning disabilities or mental health issues in Perth and Kinross area through active successful enterprises.
- Provide social settings through work and activities that enable young people with barriers make friends and enjoy an inclusive and happy life which improve their wellbeing and feeling of value.
- To provide volunteer buddy support to all those who wish to progress into new work environments or need social support.
