Charity information

Eagles Community Foundation

To deliver opportunities within sport (in particular basketball) for the benefit of the public generally and in particular the inhabitants of Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and surrounding areas.

Founded 2005

  • Mission statement

The Foundation provides opportunities to participate in all aspects of basketball across but not exclusively in North East England. The Foundation operates fourteen junior basketball clubs with age group based sessions along with an exit route in to league competitions. Above this is the School of Excellence enabling young people to participate within a performance programme. We also cater for wheelchair basketball in partnership with Percy Hedley Sports Academy with two senior and two junior teams.

The structure is supported with dedicated primary and secondary school work with healthy living roadshows, participation tournaments and targeted curriculum work in English, Maths and Enterprise. This has progressed over the past two years with an Enterprise Challenge programme working with long term unemployed tenants from Your Homes Newcastle. All of this delivery enables the inclusion of volunteers within the programme to provide key roles, all volunteers are appropriately qualified, insured and CRB checked.
