Community Network

Community Network is a national charity combatting the devastating effects of loneliness and isolation on health & well-being by bringing people together in peer support groups over the telephone.

Founded 1990

  • Mission statement

To provide an easy to use peer led telephone friendship services connecting lonely and isolated community members and support them to participate in society. We work to support people who have become or are at risk of being disconnected from their peers and community.

Loneliness and social isolation can affect anyone regardless of background but those at highest risk are some of the most vulnerable members of society including older adults, carers, people managing long term health conditions.

Loneliness can be as detrimental to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day and has considerable negative affects upon mental health and well-being. At Community Network we seek to address this by using the telephone to bring people together in an safe and inclusive manner.

    • To prevent and address the negative affects of loneliness and social isolation on health and well-being.
