  • Mission statement

Arnolfini's mission is to foster artistic experimentation and engagement across the contemporary arts. Through visual arts, live art, dance, music, film, poetry & literature, Arnolfini provides Bristol and the West of England with a centre for learning through contemporary arts.
At the heart of our programme is a commitment to learning & participation. We believe that it is through creativity and the exchange of ideas that people make meaning and that through meaningful engagement individuals become empowered and society can develop. Art inspires change. Our specialist team of arts education professionals deliver arts workshops, learning programmes, tours, talks and all manner of participatory activities for 250 local schools including 20+ specialist schools for students with specific and additional learning needs. They also support a group of 21 young people aged 16 – 25 to explore and interpret and experience contemporary arts. Every exhibition and live art performance is underpinned by a belief in collaboration and engagement.
For over 52 years Arnolfini has been a meeting place, a catalyst for ideas and a unique showcase for world class contemporary art and performance. In this time, we have supported thousands of now-influential artists early in their careers and have encouraged people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with art.
