Charity information

Embercombe is a centre of inspiration and nature connection, encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to take action for a just, peaceful and sustainable world.

Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

Embercombe’s mission is to inspire people to take courageous action for a just, peaceful and sustainable world. Established in 2006 we offer leadership training and land-based education that supports, challenges and inspires participants to bring about “the world of our longing”.

We run a 50 acre educational site and small farm in Devon overlooking Dartmoor, which offers low impact conference facilities, yurt-based accommodation for 50, woodland classrooms and organic market gardens.

We work with a broad range of individuals and groups including school children, teenagers, young people, families and adults. We aim to be socially inclusive, including hosting severely disadvantaged children, young people and families from deprived inner city areas and a diversity of cultures.

We host over 700 school age children annually, helping them to develop a deeper sense of nature, understand where food comes from, build self-trust and confidence to express themselves, and consider their personal values - ‘what matters’.

We run personal development and leadership training for young adults of all backgrounds. Our group leaders are extremely experienced, knowledgeable, resourceful and caring role models. We also benefit from the support and hard work of over 100 volunteeers each year.
