The Phoenix Trust (Milton)

We provide supported work experience and training to young people and adults with special educational needs. Our trainees work alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers to gain real life and work skills. We offer wide range of opportunities in our concrete factory, woodsheds, kitchen, and garden. Almost everything our trainees produce is on sale to the public highlighting the dedication and determination of people with learning disabilities, mental health and behavioural problems.

Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

It is the mission of Phoenix to provide young people and adults with special educational needs, a range of learning opportunities in a safe, supported working environment sustained through the sale of produced goods in concrete and wood.

Our trainees work alongside experienced staff and volunteers in each of the production areas experiencing the entire process from production to final sale. As well as growing produce in our kitchen garden trainees work in the kitchen preparing and cooking the produce to serve to their fellow workers.

Skills developed through a work placement include
    • trade skills (concrete mixing, carpentry, gardening, catering)
    • workplace skills (health and safety, working in a team)
    • life skills (cooking, independent travel )
    • basic skills (numeracy, literacy and IT)

Our trainees become more independent and grow in confidence and we support their progression every step of the way. Phoenix is unique in offering such a wide range of opportunities in a safe and supportive environment to a wide range of people disadvantaged by learning difficulties, mental health and/or behavioural issues.
