The Children's Food Trust

The Children’s Food Trust aims to reduce childhood obesity and improve academic achievement through improving the food our children eat at home, at school and beyond.

Founded 2005

  • Mission statement

Our children must eat healthily to reach their full potential in life.

Through ensuring a balanced diet in their early years and at school, together with better family cooking skills, lifestyle and food education, the Trust exists to help protect every child’s right to eat better – and so, to do better.

We deliver training and catering support directly to pre-schools, schools and Local Authorities all across the country to help them improve the quality of their food and increase take up.

Through Let’s Get Cooking - the UK’s biggest network of school based cooking clubs – we raise children’s cooking skills and knowledge of healthy eating all across the country.

Through the Children’s Food Trust Award – launched in the spring - we improve, monitor and promote excellence in school food.

Through the Learning Network, the brand new national online hub for heads, cooks, caterers and business managers, we are sharing our expert knowledge in all aspects of school food through e-learning, webcasts and forums, aiming to raise standards nationally at a tiny fraction of the cost of face to face training or consultancy.

Finally, our nutritionists, researchers and school food advisers are active at a policy level, encouraging government to make the right decisions around children's food - backed by evidence and focusing on the long term health and education of the nation.
