Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team

DAST provide support to those who have been diagnosed with an asbestos related disease. We work throughout the East Midlands.

Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

DAST was established in March 2002 as a local response to the growing problem of asbestos related illnesses among workers. The illnesses that we deal with include Mesothelioma, Lung Cancer and Asbestosis. The overall aims are to:

Offer a means of mutual support among sufferers and their families through networking opportunities.
Raise awareness of asbestos related diseases and highlight the dangers of exposure to asbestos.
Offer relief to sufferers and their families in the form of financial advice – that is instigating civil claims for compensation through referral to a panel of solicitors; and advising/assisting in the claim of welfare entitlements such as Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.

We provide home visits to residents of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and parts of Staffordshire.

  • Aims

Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team aims to:

    • To support, advise and provide assistance to workers, former workers and their families, who have suffered ill-health, injury or become disabled from their work with asbestos.
