Thomley

A place for people of all abilities and disabilities.

Thomley is a place to play, have fun, socialise and learn to live. We welcome disabled people of all ages from babies to adults, and their families, carers or friends. We support people at any stage of their diagnostic journey, whatever their additional needs.

  • Mission statement

Thomley is a unique centre for children with disabilities, who visit with family, friends, carers and school groups.

Ideally disabled children would have the choice to play in the same places as their friends. Sadly, Thomley is the only fully accessible facility of its kind within a 35 mile radius and over 2,000 disabled children travel to us from 22 different counties each year, just to reach somewhere they can join in.

Situated in 8 acres of beautiful and peaceful countryside, our facilities are fully accessible and securely enclosed, providing a safe and supportive setting for children to play, learn and take measured risks. We offer a wide range of workshops and activities suitable for all ages and abilities, allowing visitors to have fun, make new friends and feel accepted.

We also help parents and carers - providing a place to relax, enjoy quality time with their children and access information on disability and support networks.

    Our aims:

◦To increase the self esteem, health, confidence, social and physical skills of disabled children and teenagers through accessible play, recreation and informal education with siblings and friends.

◦To provide parents and carers with a place to meet others who have disabled children, to lessen their isolation & to increase their ability to support their children through play, recreation and access to information.

◦To raise awareness amongst the community and to encourage understanding and acceptance of disability iss
