Friends of Inti Wara Yassi

Friends of Inti Wara Yassi (FIWY) is the UK branch of Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi (CIWY). CIWY is a Bolivian NGO that founded and currently manages three refuges for wild animals in the Bolivian Amazon.

Founded 2008

  • Mission statement

FIWY's mission is to support CIWY's work in Bolivia through fundraising and awareness raising. CIWY's mission is to provide the best quality of life possible to wildlife rescued from illegal trading, and to diminish animal trafficking through educational programmes and direct action.

FIWY was founded in 2008. We provide administrative support to CIWY, manage their international fundraising and raise awareness of their work. Since 2008 we have donated over £99,000 to CIWY; helping them purchase land, build crucial infrastructure and improve many animal enclosures. We are proud to have renowned primatologist, Dame Jane Goodall, as our Patron.

CIWY was founded in 1992. It is a Bolivian NGO that currently manages three refuges for wild animals in the Bolivian Amazon. For more than 20 years CIWY has cared for rescued animals, given disadvantaged youth a sense of purpose through involvement with wildlife care, and educated the Bolivian public to respect and protect their country’s flora and fauna. CIWY’s largest focus continues to be aiding wildlife affected by illegal trading; however through its environmental education programme it aims to end the cruel trade that is the culprit behind the need for its work.

Please note that any Gift Aid claimed will be treated as unrestricted funds.
