Freedom Matters works in Nepal to ensure that children in this very poor country have a safe and sound childhood. In other words that their rights are protected.
Freedom Matters is currently rebuilding schools and homes destroyed in the 2015 earthquake and helping traumatised children. We are providing skill training to some of the most vulnerable people in Nepal to provide them with a livelihood and the ability to keep their families safe.
Freedom Matters works with local organisations in Nepal to fight for the rights of each child, in particular the rights to a family and community life free from abuse, the worst forms of child labour and trafficking.
We achieve this mission by working alongside two trustworthy implementing partner organisations (NGOs), Right4Children (R4C) and Kopila to implement projects that make a real difference to childrens' lives.
Freedom Matters aims to:
- We will raise the funds and provide help and advice to ensure that 5 schools in Dhading District, destroyed by the 2015 earthquake, are rebuilt and improved at the same time.
- We will provide funding to complete the building of a Vocational Training Centre in Pokhara. This centre will provide free places and jobs for vulnerable young people and the local community.
- We will manage a project in a mountainous area of Nepal to build a hostel so that girls can stay at school overnight rather than walk for many hours to get home. Earthquake destroyed the last one
