Bath Mozartfest Limited

For the past 21 years, Bath Mozartfest has offered the very best classical music performed by world-class artists in the historic Georgian City of Bath. It is now firmly established as one of the leading festivals in Europe enjoying capacity audiences and record ticket sales.

Under the artistic direction of Amelia Freedman, the Bath Mozartfest offers every November, a range of chamber and orchestral works and continues to set standards of excellence that are the envy of many other musical celebrations

Founded 1991

  • Mission statement

The Bath Mozartfest was founded in 1991 by a generous bequest from a local resident, Mrs Mary Purnell, in memory of her son Mark.

Over the past two decades the Festival has grown and now every November aims to promote top international artists and ensembles, in performances of the works of WA Mozart and related composers for classical music lovers.

As a result it attracts capacity audiences from all England and many visitors from abroad to Bath and has become renowned for its excellence and quality in the classical music field, with BBC Radio 3 broadcasting most concerts and regular reviews in the national media.

Financially the Festival is quite unique, as it does not receive any council or government funding. It relies solely on income from the A. M Purnell Charitable Trust and more recently, as Trust funds are now severely depleted, on the generosity of its supporters, both corporate and personal, in return for a number of different benefits.

“The Bath Mozartfest, a regular autumn fixture- with high calibre artists –
in some of Bath’s most desirable venues. Audiences flock.. 95% attendance over this year’s ten days. It is a real success story. ”

    Geoffrey Norris (The Daily Telegraph)

" Bath Mozartfest delivers small miracles in the City’s glorious surroundings"
