Charity information

Re~Cycle is a UK registered charity and we help thousands of people in Africa to take ownership of a bike, radically reducing the time it takes to walk to school, work or gather firewood or water. Bikes are often the only reliable form of transport on rough roads and narrow dusty tracks. We also give thousands of people in the UK the chance to reuse their unwanted bikes. Within months your bike could be making a difference to someone's life in Africa

Founded 1997

  • Mission statement

We re-use quality used bicycles from the UK to provide access to income, education, health, wellbeing, and create long lasting improvement to livelihoods in Africa.
We provide our partners with the skills, tools and knowledge to repair and maintain bicycles, and support emerging bicycle-related economies in Africa.
We mobilise African communities through sustainable transport & development.

  • Aims

    Re~Cycle aims to:

    • Re~Cycle envisions a future when every person in Africa has access to quality, affordable, sustainable transport. No more walking hours each day just to get to school, fetch water or work.
