We improve vulnerable residents' homes, to reduce & prevent falls; crime; domestic violence; avoidable childhood accidents. A safe/secure/warm home environment reduces hospital admissions & depression

Founded 1987

  • Mission statement

Care & Repair’s aim is to assist vulnerable people with home improvements; offering an alternative option to ‘moving on’ to supported housing or residential care: independent living in a warm, safe, home.

Mission: ‘To enable those in need of support to maintain their independence in their chosen home in a warm, safe and secure environment, for the foreseeable future. ’

This outcome is achieved by supporting our clients throughout the repair, adaptation or improvement process and, by the direct provision of repair services, preventative works, and advice on accessing appropriate finance and/or other services/support.

Working with public protection agencies; we seek to reduce crime (domestic burglary); reduce repreat victimisation: to provide a 'staying put' option for victims of domestic violence and hate crime (retain social support networks for vulnerable families/children/victims); to reduce the incidence of emergency hospital admission for children under 5, by providing home safety assessment, advice and equipment installation. In England, 500 children are seriously injured and 18 are killed in house fires every year.
Falls are not only more likely to happen in older people but they are also more likely to result in serious injury. Prevention of falls for older people, supports their independent living; often, a consequence of falls is fear, loss of confidence and restriction of activities (to avoid risking further falls), resulting in a rapid decline.
