Martha Trust provides residential and respite care for people
with profound physical and multiple learning disabilities
at three residential homes in Kent and East Sussex.
Martha Trust provides residential, respite, and day care for people who have profound and multiple learning disabilities. Residents of our three homes in Kent and Sussex are aged between 18 and 65 years old, are unable to walk or sit unaided, have severe learning disabilities and limited ability to speak. All our residents have complex medical needs that require 24-hour care.
Up to the age of 18 most children with profound disabilities receive full-time education in special-needs schools and institutions. From age 18 onwards their parents and guardians find that there is a chronic shortage of high quality long-term care places available. Martha Trust works to meet that need.
The parent of a young resident in one of our homes wrote: ‘She is always treated with the utmost respect and given proper privacy and dignity at all times within a loving, caring relationship with her carers. The environment is wonderfully home-like - not at all institutionalised’.
Martha Trust aims to:
- T omake sure that people with profound physical and multiple learning disabilities are given the very best opportunities to lead happy, active and fulfilling lives.
