Chai is the only Jewish cancer support organisation providing culturally sensitive cancer support services to cancer patients and their families; from 8 sites in the UK, hospital and clients' own home

  • Mission statement

    With over 22 years of experience, Chai Cancer Care is the Jewish community’s cancer support organisation, providing a specialised services to cancer patients, their families and friends.

    Chai provides a wide range of services; face to face and telephone counselling, rehabilitative therapies, complementary therapies, a comprehensive programme of social and physical activities, advice and advocacy and home support services. In addition there are regular expert lectures.

    Chai is currently supporting 1,650 cancer patients and their families nationwide. Over the past three years we have seen a 20% year on year increase in demand for our specialised services.

    The Medical Outpatient Rehabilitation and Pallliative Care Service is based at the flagship centre in Hendon, North West London. Services are also available in Essex, South London, Manchester, Glasgow and Southend. Services are available in people’s homes, hospitals and hospices for those who are unable or too unwell to use a centre.

    Chai’s highly qualified professional staff is augmented by a team of trained volunteers.

    Chai Cancer Care does not charge for its services and does not receive any statutory funding. It is an independent organisation serving the entire Jewish community and is solely reliant on voluntary contributions.

    Chai Cancer Care aims to:

    • Deliver expert psychological, rehabilitative, therapeutic and practical support to improve the quality of life for those affected by Cancer.
    • Meet the increasing demand for Chai's services; ensuring they are fully accessible to those who need them as and when they are required.
    • Provide professional cancer support services in response to the complex and evolving needs of those affected by cancer, regardless of their ability to pay.
