The Daneford Trust

The Daneford Trust is an educational charity which creates educational, cultural and volunteer exchanges by supporting young Londoners and project counterparts in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

The Daneford Trust supports and nurtures young people’s ambitions and drive: from imagining the possibilities to preparing for an overseas trip, from being in a project in a foreign land to sharing the learning and charting life’s next steps back home. Daneford imparts practical skills, in research, fundraising, and cultural engagement. We provide moral support and encouragement. As a result, Daneford volunteers become active citizens and community leaders.

The Trust was established in 1982 in Bethnal Green, East London. It grew out of a school exchange in 1977 between the former Daneford School and Haggerston Secondary School in London and schools in Botswana, South Africa and Lesotho.

The Trust currently runs 1)overseas volunteer projects, 2)a London focused community linking programme, and 3)The Thulani Moyo Library & Resource Centre.
While working with the Daneford Trust to select a destination, learn about the culture, and fundraise for an overseas voluntary project, a young person begins to chart their own course, for their project, for their personal values, and for their life.
