CAFOD

Across the world we bring hope and compassion to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice.

Founded 1962

  • Mission statement

CAFOD is the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, and part of Caritas International. Across the world we bring hope and compassion to poor communities, standing side by side with them to end poverty and injustice. Because we work through the local Church, we can reach people and places that others can’t.

Nobody wants to live on handouts, so we equip people with the skills they need to support their families and give something back to their communities. During conflict and disasters, our local organisations act fast to provide food, water and shelter to people who have lost everything, and then help people to rebuild their lives and prepare for future disasters. When international bodies and governments make decisions that damage poor communities, we speak out. None of our work is possible without you, so join us today and put your faith into action.
