Fynvola Foundation

We are a new specialised nursing home for ageing learning disabled people with additional medical needs, some requiring palliative care in our converted farmhouse in peaceful surroundings; conditions include Alzheimer’s, heart disease, cancer and other serious illnesses. We have fifteen bedrooms, four of which are dedicated to end of life care and one is for respite care, especially where carers are older and really need that break. We have 17 full time and 9 part time staff with 12 volunteers.

We believe we are the first charity to offer such a specific service to this age group, and we offer a home for life. We provide all the necessary medical attention within the home, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Learning disabled people are living longer and their need for care in later life has not yet been addressed by Government, leading to great distress. We opened Fynvola to meet this very need and to offer first class appropriate care.

We still need to furnish 6 bedrooms with specialised equipment and overhead hoists at a cost of £6,000 per room. We would very much like support.
