The Daphne Jackson Trust

The Daphne Jackson Trust runs a scheme to help scientists, engineers and technologists (SET) to return to their careers after a break.

Career breaks happen for a number of reasons; bringing up children, caring for elderly relatives or disability and illness. Without our help, skills and talents are wasted. Also, the time, money and effort invested to educate and train SET professionals goes down the drain.

The Trust arranges paid, two-year, part-time Fellowships with a research project and retraining programme at a UK university or industrial research and development laboratory. Fellows are offered support, guidance and mentoring throughout the whole process. On completion they are able to compete on a level playing field with their peers.

We cannot afford to keep losing SET professionals or there will be huge gaps in the skills base and UK industry will be less competitive in the world.
