Charity information

We are the first centre of resource for everyone in Cornwall affected by sight loss. We aim to improve their lives by restoring confidence, increasing independence and reducing social isolation.

Founded 1856

  • Mission statement

Inspiring futures for people living with sight loss.

With our strong track record of delivering effective services, we offer practical and emotional support to help prevent social exclusion and steer people back into main stream living. With the help of our 270 volunteers we assist people to access our services, including Low Vision clinics, assistive technology, benefits advice, mobility transport, befriending, leisure and social clubs and our information desks in the wider community. We will help people to deal with the environmental, societal and financial repercussions that often arise. We understand the complexities and life-changing nature of sight loss and the range of essential equipment available; not forgetting that sometimes even the smallest things can make a world of difference.

We are proud of our heritage as the longest standing and earliest charity for those with impaired vision and loss of sight in Cornwall and we look forward to developing its future, vital and relevant for the generations to come.
