Bega kwa Bega Uganda Orphans

Bega kwa Bega is a community based organisation working with villagers to help them support their orphans. We provide the basic needs that children require in order for them to thrive.

Founded 1999

  • Mission statement

Bega kwa Bega was initiated by a Ugandan woman and is run by Ugandans. We ensure orphans stay on their own land and in their own homes so they grow up among extended family and in familiar surroundings. In order to provide these orphans with all their basic needs we help the whole community to support their orphans.

To accomplish these aims we have set up 6 linked projects:

Clean available WATER: 160 public water sources to date (2014) serving 215,000 people.
HEALTH: Our mobile Clinic treated 16,200 patients last year.
AGRICULTURE and NUTRITION: Training is provided on our organic demonstration farm.
INCOME GENERATION: Business Management, Skills Training & practical help to set up a business are given. There are over 100 successful businesses.
EDUCATION: Orphans are sponsored for nursery education, and continues through primary, secondary & tertiary, paying for uniforms and other essentials.
GIRLS are left to shoulder the greatest burden of care. Even at a young age they look after siblings, run the household and work the land. We give girls priority in education, workshops and training schemes.

MANAGEMENT: Our one Manager has responsibility for all 6 projects in many villages in 9 districts. The villagers elect coodinators who work on a voluntary basis and act as agents between themselves and Bega kwa Bega.

We partner a demonstration Nursery School which is a centre of excellence and provides training for nursery and primary school teachers.
