The Bailiffgate Museum is the local museum for the North Northumberland region of Britain. Our main aim is to preserve local items of local history for generations to come. We display these items in one of our 6 themed and fully interactive areas to help educate locals and tourists alike as to the fascinating history of this turbulent region. We have up to eight temporary exhibitions a year that showcase aspects of local history or works by the many talented local artists.
We also have a strong emphasis on education; we provide free activities for schools from across the northumberland region to help support the curriculum. We also provide a mix of activities for families throughout the year. We try our best to cater to the areas of deprivation in the local area, providing interesting opportunities for children who might not get them normally.
