SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity

SSAFA provides lifelong support for our Armed Forces, veterans and their families. Thanks to our supporters and volunteers, we are able to meet the needs of more than 65,000 people every year.

Founded 1885

  • Mission statement

Founded in 1885, our mission is to relieve the need, suffering and distress of those who serve in our Armed Forces, those who used to serve and the families of both.

SSAFA is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of anyone who is serving or has ever served in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, British Army or Royal Air Force. Support for their loved ones is also at the heart of what we do. Today, we remain uniquely placed within the Forces family to provide help and support wherever and whenever it is needed.

  • Aims

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity aims to:

    • Develop and deliver quality services that meet the needs of our Armed Forces, veterans and their families.
    • Maximise the effectiveness of our support by optimising the contribution of our trained and committed volunteers.
