Ataxia UK

Ataxia UK is the national charity for people affected by ataxia.

Founded 1965

  • Mission statement

Ataxia UK have been supporting people affected by ataxia for fifty years. Our community's vision is a world without ataxia.

Although we are a small charity, in the last 10 years Ataxia UK has committed more than £4m to research into the ataxias. Every day our researchers are working on projects that lead us closer to the prospect of a cure for ataxia.

To help people live with the condition in the meantime, we provide unique services and support, including a dedicated helpline service; events and conferences where people can meet and share information; a quarterly magazine; a website full of information and a discussion forum; publications, films, and reports. We offer free membership and vital support from the difficult time of first diagnosis through all the challenges people with ataxia face every day.

  • Aims

    Ataxia UK aims to:

    • To support everybody affected by ataxia across the UK
    • To fund world-leading research into the ataxias and discover new treatments and ultimately a cure
