Transform Drug Policy Foundation

Transform Drug Policy Foundation is a charitable think tank that advocates a pragmatic approach to drug control – a system based on evidence not ideology.

Founded 1998

  • Mission statement

To end the War on Drugs and establish effective and humane systems of drug regulation.

Rather than eliminating drugs from society, prohibition has served only to criminalise millions of users and create lucrative and dangerous illegal markets controlled by organised criminals. To reform the drug policies that have generated these unintended negative consequences, Transform's work includes:

    - Carrying out policy research, analysis and development
    - producing educational materials on drug policy reform that are evidence-based
    - Challenging government to demonstrate rational, fact-based evidence to support its policies and expenditure
    - Promoting alternative, evidence-based policies to parliamentarians and government
    - Advising non-governmental organisations whose work is affected by drugs and developing drug policies appropriate to their own mission and objectives
    - Providing an informed, rational and clear voice in the public and media debate on UK and international drug policy

  • Aims

Transform Drug Policy Foundation aims to:

    • Giving advice and assistance with respect to the formulation of drug policies to increase their effectiveness and preserve and safeguard the interests of the public.
