Believing that the power of the law should side with the poor, African Prisons Project empowers prisoners and prison staff in Kenya and Uganda with legal skills and expertise, so they can defend their and other people’s right to a fair trial and catalyse reforms to advance criminal justice.

    African Prisons Project (APP) exists to bring justice, dignity and hope to the men, women, and children in prison communities across Africa.

    APP puts the power of the law into the hands of those who have been in conflict with it, enabling them to shape, make and implement the law from prison and beyond.

    • To improve access to quality legal reprentation for inmates resulting in the release of the wrongfully incarcerated
