Nugent Care

Nugent Care is a charitable organisation which offers a diverse range of support to adults and children across Liverpool and throughout the North West of England. Started in 1881 we continue the pioneering work of our founder Father James Nugent in relation to child welfare, relief from poverty and social reform.
Today the wide range of services Nugent Care has to offer allows us to provide a highly individualised and tailored approach to all our service users. We work with children, adults and community groups through our homes, schools and community based projects throughout the North West
As a social care provider, Nugent Care works at the heart of some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. We strive not only to provide the best possible service to individuals and their families in these areas, but to generate interest, awareness and an understanding of the issues they face and the impact of this on our wider communities.

  • Mission statement

Nugent Care will provide quality services that ensure people’s rights, independence, inter-dependence, choice and inclusion are integrated into everything that we do.
Nugent Care is one of the leading charities in the North West of England; our head office is based in Liverpool. We care for children, disabled and disadvantaged people of all ages. We provide Care Homes for Children, Special Schools, Adoption, fostering and Fieldwork Services, Child Protection, Individual Day Support for adults with learning disabilities, Garden Projects, Care Homes for Adults and Older People including people with acquired brain injury and people who live with dementia. We run several community projects, one of which is the Hear Here Project which works with adults who have acquired a hearing loss. The project runs lip reading classes, offers a volunteer visiting scheme for isolated older people and runs an equipment loan service.
We have a number of volunteer led projects based in the community for adults with learning disability. We run a service for Deaf people including a weekly craft group. We run a community resource for the individuals, families on very low incomes and homeless people; this service provides support with re housing and practical help with food and small household equipment. Our community services are voluntary funded and we rely on donations and fundraising to continue this work. We have over 300 volunteers who support the work of our community services.
