The ATE Trust runs residential summer camps called Superweeks for children 8-16. The Trust raises funds for disadvantaged young people to have this valuable experience via The Adventure Appeal Fund.

  • Mission statement

    ATE is a not-for-profit educational Trust which provides residential summer camps in the school holidays for children aged 8 to 16 from all over the UK and Europe. With 50 years of experience (formerly as 'Colony Holidays') ATE has a well developed educational ethos, and a huge resource of activities and experience.
    The children who come on the camps learn about the value of play and how to make new friends with children from a wide range of social backgrounds and with adults who are neither parents or teachers. They come home with renewed enthusiasm and confidence in themselves. ATE runs The Adventure Appeal to sponsor disadvantaged children to come on a Superweek. We work closely with schools to ensure that this funding is allocated to children who really need it.

    ATE trains the young people (mostly students) who work with the children on the camps and this work is voluntary. The young volunteers gain huge confidence in their own ability to lead, and often adjust their career choice in favour of teaching or similar work as a direct result of their work with ATE.
