The Greensand Trust was formed in 1999 and works in the fields of conservation, education, heritage, landscape and access in and around the Greensand Ridge in Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

  • Mission statement

    The Greensand Trust is an independent environmental charity that works with local communities and landowners to conserve and enhance the distinctive landscape, wildlife and history of the Greensand Ridge, improving access, understanding and enjoyment for the benefit of everyone.

  • Aims

    The Greensand Trust aims to:

    • To conserve and enhance the management of key wildlife, landscape and heritage features along the Greensand Ridge and surrounding areas.
    • To develop, improve and promote the public open space network and public rights of way.
    • To develop creative landscape and habitat restoration projects to link fragmented habitats and to contribute to the general conservation of the landscape and biodiversity.
    • To increase awareness and understanding of the natural and historic aspects of the landscape amongst landowners and the general public and promote the need for their protection and management.
    • To work in partnership with local communities, local authorities, landowners and industry to identify priorities, and develop and implement environmental improvement projects.
