The Starehe Centres are the only secondary schools in Kenya offering bright boys and girls from highly disadvantaged backgrounds a first-class education and a home - free of charge.
Starehe is a household name in Kenya, providing the only secondary schools in the country to offer a first-class education and home to students, free of charge. So for hundreds of bright, disadvantaged young Kenyans, a free place at Starehe represents their only hope of a life-changing opportunity – and a passport out of poverty.
Our aim this Christmas is to support at least 20 bright but impoverished children to access an education with the Starehe schools. Both Starehe Boys and Girls schools educate their pupils to an exceptionally high standard and changes the face of Kenya by ensuring that leadership and service values are woven into society at every level.
This will be achieved through funding sponsored places for both boys and girls. It costs the schools £850 to provide a safe secure home and education to each pupil per year.
Our aim is to provide 20 sponsored secondary school places through this Christmas appeal. Children in Kenya attend secondary school for 4 years, so we need to raise £68,000.
Our wish is for a new generation of Kenyan leaders to emerge from Starehe school with a first-class education and the mission to end disadvantage and poverty.
