Interest Link Borders

Interest Link Borders exists to improve the quality of life of people with learning disabilities in the Scottish Borders. It achieves this through a befriending service. This service has run since 1990 in Berwickshire and since 2001 area-wide.

There are currently 266 service users registered, of whom 112 are linked 1:1 with volunteers. Since 2001 there have been 335 links covering activities such as going to evening classes, playing golf, painting, bird watching, shopping, swimming, having coffee, horse riding, playing football or going to the cinema or a concert.

Our plans for the future include a service for young people with learning disabilities. We hope to launch this in April 2008.
