Blackburn Community Sports Club

Blackburn Community Sports Club under its working name of Lammack Juniors FC (LJFC) is a FA Community Club working to criteria set by the FA. From the formation in January 1997 with only 16 members we now currently have over 250 young people taking part in weekly coaching sessions and football matches and over 40 volunteers, mainly coaches and managers. These include teams from under 7s to under 18s for boys and under 11s, 12s, 14s and 16s for girls. In June 2007 LJFC won Lancashire Community Club of the Year and were put forward for the Regional and National awards.
In addition to the above teams the Club organises a Saturday fun club each week to give non-members an opportunity to develop their football activity. We also have a ladies football team and netball team. We provide children with the facilities to play and enjoy sport in a safe environment supported by committed, trained, FA qualified coaches and promote links with local schools working in partnership with the LFA’s Football Development Officer. An example of this is the work we do with St Mary’s College, Blackburn and their pupils doing BTEC Sports/HSLA.
We are currently the only junior club in the local area to actively involve children with disabilities in a club environment. We are represented on the Lancashire Disability Development Committee and are an Ability Counts Club of which there are only four currently in Lancashire. As a club working with children we have a strict child protection policy and also a child protection officer. In addition to these we also require all coaches, managers and committee members to have CRB disclosure checks.
