Place2Be provides school-based counselling services in over 174 schools, supporting 64,000 children, their families and the whole school community.
Founded in 1994 Place2Be is the UK’s leading charity offering emotional and mental health services in schools. We work with 500 schools, including the delivery of school-based counselling services in over 174 schools, directly supporting over 64,000 children. For the children we work with issues such as domestic violence, gang and knife crime, drug and alcohol abuse, bereavement and bullying are a day to day reality. Although Place2Be cannot stop such bad things happening to children we can provide a safe place for them to meet with trained professionals to express their emotions, work through their problems and develop a crucial resilience to help them cope, concentrate at school, thrive and have a brighter future. We offer a range of emotional and therapeutic support including one-to-one counselling, self-referral sessions, parent counselling and group work in a trusted environment. The demonstrable impact of Place2Be’s work is overwhelming with evidence that shows higher attendance, less class disruption, better academic performance, an improved school environment and long term benefits to society.
Recently, a sixth form student that visited Place2Be when he was in Primary school said “If I had a window into an alternative universe to see a version of me that had not gone to Place2Be I would probably not want to see what I had turned out to be. ”
Place2Be aims to:
