ZENDEH produces high quality cross art form productions with creative engagement programmes that are culturally eclectic, unforgettable and attract new audiences.
ZENDEH addresses the lack of access to and creation of culturally diverse artistic works. Our work reflects the range of cultures and identities within the UK.
ZENDEH is a Farsi word meaning ALIVE. ZENDEH recognises that each artist is diverse. ZENDEH seeks artistic quality by engaging with ideas of origins, inherited cultural identity, experiences of trans-nationals and the need for a diaspora to belong as well as simultaneously to be a nomad. The freedom to explore these ideas are our human right, it is what guides us through the global and local socio-political tides of change, enabling ZENDEH to make great art for everyone.
ZENDEH creates innovative, intercultural theatre productions exploring internationalism and transnationalism. ZENDEH is committed to cultural diversity with a special interest in Iranian cultural relationships. ZENDEH operates the ZENDEH Laboratory for creative research, development, participatory learning and sharing of professional practice.
ZENDEH aims to:
- To pioneer a new dialogue based on the arts for all to be able to have the choice to understand
- To revive Persian/Iranian classics and translate new theatre from Iran for contemporary audiences.
- To interrogate issues including the context of female experience using theatre, film and digital arts.
- To promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of all through the encouragement of drama in all its forms.
