Charity information

Care and Relief for the Young (CRY)

CRY aims to rescue and restore children and young people broken by poverty, oppression, exclusion and abuse.

We set up projects that provide for the most basic needs - food, water, shelter, education - in some of the poorest nations in the world.

But we recognise we can't do that on our own. So we train and support local people and churches to run the projects, using their knowledge to make the projects sustainable for the long-term.

Founded 1992

  • Mission statement

CRY is a Christian charity dedicated to caring for disadvantaged, destitute and suffering children, young people and their families. CRY aims to rescue and restore young lives broken by poverty, oppression, exclusion and abuse and to provide appropriate opportunities for a better future.

  • Aims

Care and Relief for the Young (CRY) aims to:

    • We are Christian - We are motivated and guided by Christian beliefs and principles.
    • We value everybody - regardless of their station in life.
    • We act with integrity - We're efficient with our resources, and transparent about how our projects are going and how our money is spent.
    • We strive for excellence - We want to do the best job we know how to achieve our goal. And when we get things wrong we learn from our mistakes.
    • We work with others - As well as building partnerships within the communities we work in, we encourage liaison with local government and other NGOs.
