This Way Up

SILENT NIGHT - that's the prayer of many young people we work with. A break from mum and dad arguing! Your support helps us to listen to young people and give them tips on coping.

Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

This Way Up enables young people who have been affected by loss as a result of bereavement or parental separation/divorce to have access to support which helps them to identify feelings and develop strategies to cope.

In a recent survey, 72% of children said that they would value having someone to talk to when their parents split up. (Kids in the Middle Nov '08)

We aim to be there when young people need someone to talk to at the place where they spend most of their time - school.

We have developed a course called 'Lost & Found' and we train Christian youth workers around the UK and in Cape Town, S Africa where HIV/AIDS is an enormous problem, to deliver our materials.

  • Aims

    This Way Up aims to:

    • Training youth workers across the UK to understand how young people are affected by parental separation and bereavement and giving them the skills, confidence and support to listen to them.
    • Supporting young people affected by parental separation and bereavement and helping them to understand their feelings and develop strategies to cope. We provide small groups and 1:1 support.
