Headway North London

Headway North London was established to support brain injury survivors, carers, friends and family. Our geographical focus is North London, including the boroughs of Camden, Haringey, Barnet, Enfield, Islington and Westminster.
A brain injury can cause instant and irrevocable changes including problems with thinking skills, such as memory and concentration, changes in behaviour, mobility problems, sensory loss, epilepsy and speech and language difficulties. Brain injury is often known as ‘the hidden disability’ as many of these impacts are not visible. Coming to terms with the consequences of a brain injury, and even coping with everyday life, can be very hard and take a long time. Relationships with friends and partners may break down leading to social isolation, and it may be difficult to return to work or education.
We support those affected by brain injury by:
1. Offering a network of support
2. Providing activities that assist with personal development, rebuilding self-esteem, interpersonal skills, communication skills, physical fitness, moderating behaviour and increasing motivation
3. Providing information and advice to anyone affected by brain injury, and by
4. Raising public awareness and understanding of brain injury.
