  • Mission statement

The Yard provides specialist play support to children and young people aged 3-25 years who have additional support needs. We run family play sessions every Friday afternoon, all day Saturday as well as every day throughout the school holidays.
We run six independence youth clubs for young people aged 8-25 years, this includes three teen clubs, two clubs for children aged 8-14 years and an 18-25 social club. These promote and offer independence, enable these children to have fun with their friends outwith school and home and also provide respite for families. We run a 3-8 years parent and child group as we;ll for families to meet other families in similar circumstances as it is around this age that many children are diagnosed with a disability.
During term time we also work with 29 special schools ad language units to provide curriculum based play sessions.
The Yard aims to provide care, support, fun and friendship in equal measure while also encouraging families to let go and promote challenge, personal growth and supported independence for their children.
