Abingdon School

Abingdon is an exceptional independent boys school for boys from the age of 11 - 18 combining over 750 years of history and tradition with a modern outlook.

Founded 1800

  • Mission statement

Abingdon is an exceptional school. The boys in our care achieve outstanding academic results enabling them to secure places at highly selective universities. And, our wide-ranging extra-curricular programme encourages pupils to try something new, develop existing talents and 'give something back'.

We aim to ensure that each boy thrives at Abingdon and, through challenge and opportunity, reaches his full potential. We know that the School can, and does, make a difference. Amongst our alumni are leaders and innovators in every field from politics to finance, industry to medicine and science to sport and the arts.

The School has always adopted a socially inclusive policy since its foundation in the 12th century. Today, the need to allow boys from underpriveleged backgrounds to reach their potential through Abingdon is greater than ever. We have started an endowment fund for bursaries, through a generous legacy from an alumni, but we must at least double this if we are to be able to help other able boys. Your support would help enormously in this respect.
