Theatro Technis is a not-for-profit theatre located in one of the most deprived wards in London, St Pancras and Sommerstown, Camden Borough. Prior to 1978 Theatro Technis operated out of a railway shed behind King’s Cross, but now has a converted church house and hall for a theatre. Theatro Technis has been a pillar of the local community for over 50 years. It was originally founded for Greek-Cypriot refugees, but now relies upon a multi-national body of staff and provides a service and meeting place for the wider community.
Aims and objectives of the Theatre;
1. To promote, maintain and advance education by the encouragement of the arts, specifically drama, singing and literature.
2. To provide an affordable facility for the community that will enrich the lives of those in the area, by educating, entertaining and providing a social venue. Also providing opportunities for the young to become involved in theatre.
3. To encourage understanding and cohesion between different ethic groups and age groups in the area and beyond through theatre. The theatre’s actors, volunteers and audiences are diverse ethnically and in terms of age.
