International Rescue Committee UK

At work in more than 40 countries, the IRC restores safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted by conflict and natural disaster.

Founded 1997

  • Mission statement

International Rescue Committee works with some of the most vulnerable people on earth: people who have lost loved ones in violent conflict, who have suffered torture and sexual abuse, who have been forced to flee their homes and their livelihoods. We work with children missing their schooling and families who have sought safety and refuge in another place - sometimes just 5 miles, sometimes 5,000 miles from home. We help people all over the world who have been displaced by conflict to restart their lives with projects incorporating: education, health, governance and rights, economic recovery and development, the combating of violence against women, child protection, water and sanitation, and emergency response work.
