Charity information

Aston-Mansfield is one of the most respected charities in east London and was formed in October 2000 through the merger of Aston Charities Trust and Mansfield Settlement (organisations whose history we can trace back to 1884). We aim to create a diverse, inclusive, society in which all are free to participate. Aston-Mansfield is seen as a community hub and plays a key role in tackling poverty, deprivation, disadvantage and powerlessness in east London; providing a huge range of cultural, educational and recreational services over our three programme strands of Healthy Living, Lifelong Learning and Community Development. The content of many of our programmes are driven by the needs of the beneficiaries, which helps ensure their success and keeps them responsive to changing needs. As well as two community anchor buildings (Durning Hall in Forest Gate and The Froud Centre in Manor Park) we also have a Community Involvement Unit (CIU) which provides advice, information and support to small or start up organisations and, through our buildings, we provide space for local and religious groups to meet and worship.
