  • Mission statement

The egg, the Theatre Royal Bath’s award-winning theatre, which opened October 2005, is a very special place. Throughout the year it promotes a wide range of productions by and for children and young people of different age groups. The egg is very child-friendly: the café has a playhouse in one corner and lots of space for kids to run around and enjoy themselves. Workshops and performances for babies and younger children take place during the week and at weekends so working parents can join in the fun. Outreach activities are run around the county for families and children who cannot get into Bath. The egg team leads workshops in schools and youth groups to prepare children for their visit to the egg to see a show or to put on their own productions; to encourage children to join the egg’s Young People’s Theatre groups; and importantly to identify young people who need financial help from the eggpot bursary fund to enable them to take part in the egg’s activities

The thriving Young People’s Theatre offers a range of theatre skills from dance to drama backstage to writing for children aged from 9-18. The groups have open admission and there are additional workshops for specific groups such as YPT Rampage for young people with disabilities and Young Company for young people at risk of exclusion from school.
